Bliss Hubs Guidelines

These guidelines apply to all members of the Bliss Investor worldschooling platform, which is now a UK-registered business operating via a paid membership model (one membership covers an entire family). They are designed to manage expectations and ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone – especially children – both online in our community groups and during in-person “hub” meetups.

Please note: In-person hubs are informal, self-organized gatherings of members rather than official events hosted by Bliss Investor. We provide an online platform (calendars, RSVP tools, resources, and WhatsApp/Facebook groups) to facilitate these organic meetups, but we do not supervise or assume responsibility for on-the-ground events.

As a UK-registered business, Bliss Investor adheres to all relevant UK laws and regulations, and we require our members to do the same in their conduct.

By following these guidelines, members help create a welcoming, collaborative space where everyone feels valued and protected .

1. Code of Conduct for All Members

All community members (parents, children, and facilitators alike) are expected to treat one another with respect, kindness, and integrity at all times. This basic code of conduct extends to how adults interact with each other and how we guide our children to interact with their peers. We have formalized this code to ensure everyone understands what behavior is appropriate, which helps protect children from harm and ensures everyone feels safe and valued .

  • Respect and Inclusion: Listen to others, value different perspectives, and speak courteously. We do not tolerate discrimination, hate speech, or harassment on any basis – UK law bans incitement of hatred or violence and forbids harassment or discrimination by organizations on grounds such as race, religion, sex, etc . Every family, regardless of background or beliefs, should feel welcome in our community. Use polite language and encourage children to be kind and inclusive in their play.:
  • Safe and Positive Interaction: Avoid behaviors that could cause physical or emotional harm. Teach children to share spaces and toys considerately and to resolve disagreements peacefully (e.g. using words instead of force). If children are playing together, ensure play remains mutually enjoyable and safe. Because children are still learning boundaries, gentle reminders and role-modeling of good behavior by parents are key.:
  • Parental Responsibility: Remember that you are responsible for your own child’s behavior and safety. If a conflict or concerning incident occurs involving children, approach the other parent calmly and work together to educate the kids on appropriate behavior. Do not discipline someone else’s child; instead, communicate with the parent so they can address the issue. By supervising and guiding our kids proactively, we uphold a positive atmosphere for all.:

2. Conflict Resolution Guide

Conflicts or misunderstandings can occasionally arise – whether between children or adults. Our approach is to resolve these issues privately, promptly, and empathetically. Parents (or parties directly involved) should first attempt to handle any conflict between themselves in a calm, respectful manner:

  • Direct Dialogue: If your child has a dispute with another child, speak to that child’s parent or guardian directly and as soon as possible. Choose a moment when both parties are calm. Explain your perspective without blaming, and listen to the other parent’s viewpoint in return. Approach the conversation with empathy and the shared goal of the children’s well-being.:
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Use active listening and try to see the situation from the other family’s perspective. Often, conflicts are misunderstandings that can be cleared up by communication. Work together to find a compromise or solution that satisfies everyone – for example, agreeing on how the children should share or setting some ground rules for play. Stay focused on solutions rather than assigning blame.:
  • Use a Community Mediator: If you struggle to reach a resolution one-on-one, consider asking a mutual friend or a well-respected member of the group to act as a neutral mediator. Sometimes an outside perspective can help clarify miscommunications. Choose someone both parties trust, who can facilitate a constructive discussion.:
  • Last Resort – Contact Bliss Investor: In the rare case that a conflict cannot be resolved with the above steps, you may reach out to Bliss Investor as a last resort for guidance. Email admin@blissinvestor.com with the details of the issue. While Bliss Investor (as the platform facilitator) has no legal obligation to intervene in private disputes, we are willing to help mediate in good faith if absolutely necessary. Our team will listen to both sides and suggest an amicable resolution if possible. Keep in mind this is done as a gesture of goodwill – we encourage families to be self-reliant in conflict resolution whenever possible.:
  • No Public Dramas: Conflicts should not be aired publicly in group chats or forums. Doing so can escalate tensions and cause embarrassment. Instead, keep the matter between those directly involved (and a mediator or Bliss Investor support if needed). This privacy shows respect for everyone’s dignity. If the conflict involves a serious safety concern or potential criminal behavior (for example, an adult behaving inappropriately toward a child), it may fall outside a simple “community conflict” – in such cases, skip straight to involving the appropriate authorities (see Section 3 and Section 8).:

By following these steps, most disagreements can be resolved in a way that preserves the community’s harmonious spirit. Remember that Bliss Investor’s role is limited to online facilitation: we are not on the ground supervising, so we rely on members to act like responsible adults and work things out constructively.

3. Unacceptable Behaviour

We have a zero-tolerance stance toward certain behaviors that undermine the safety and well-being of our community. Both parents and children should be made aware of what is unacceptable. Engaging in any of the behaviors below may result in immediate intervention and could be grounds for removal from the community (see Section 6). Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  • Bullying or Intimidation: Any form of bullying, whether physical (pushing, hitting) or verbal (name-calling, threatening), is forbidden. This applies to children’s interactions and equally to any adults in the community. We expect adults to model gentle, kind behavior – aggressive confrontations between adults are not acceptable.:
  • Harassment or Stalking: Repeated unwanted attention, following someone around, or harassing messages either in person or online violate our code of conduct. Every member has the right to feel safe from being targeted or pestered.:
  • Disrespectful or Abusive Language: Profanity directed at others, derogatory slurs, screaming, or any form of verbal abuse is not allowed. This includes language that is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory. Such conduct is not only against our rules, it may also be illegal under UK harassment and hate speech laws .:
  • Hate Speech or Discrimination: Any content or behavior that maligns or excludes someone based on qualities like race, religion, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, or disability is strictly prohibited. UK law criminalizes inciting hatred or violence towards individuals on these grounds , and we will not tolerate it in our community.:
  • Inappropriate Touching or Physical Contact: Any form of unwanted or inappropriate physical contact, especially involving children, is absolutely unacceptable. We understand children may play rough at times, but behavior that clearly crosses a line (such as touching in a sexual manner, or any assault) will be treated very seriously. If you see any adult behaving inappropriately toward a child, you should remove the child from the situation and inform the authorities if warranted.:
  • Endangering Safety: Any action that puts a child or adult in danger (for example, encouraging risky stunts, bringing hazardous items to meetups, or reckless behavior like driving an ATV through a play area) is prohibited. Safety must be everyone’s top priority.:
  • Illegal Activities: Obviously, any criminal activities (violence, theft, drug abuse at a family event, etc.) are forbidden. If you witness what you believe is a crime, report it to local police immediately – do not try to handle a serious crime only within the group.:

If you witness any unacceptable behavior, please bring it to the attention of the individual’s parent (if a child is involved) or to that person directly (if an adult is involved) as soon as possible, provided you feel safe doing so. Many issues can be resolved quickly by a frank but respectful conversation in the moment (“I saw your child hit another child, can we sort this out?”). For more guidance on handling conflicts, refer to Section 2 above. If an issue persists or is particularly concerning, you may also report it to a group facilitator or via our contact email for further action. Serious breaches – such as harassment, violence, or any issue touching on child safeguarding – will be addressed decisively to protect the community. Remember, our collective goal is to ensure everyone (especially the kids) has an enjoyable and secure experience at meetups.

4. Participation Guidelines

Active participation and positive collaboration are encouraged from all members. Our community thrives when families get involved – whether by suggesting meetup activities, sharing tips and resources, or simply showing up and being friendly. Here are some guidelines for participating in a responsible and community-minded way:

  • Supervise Your Children: At all times during in-person meetups, parents or guardians must know where their children are and what they are doing. These hubs are not drop-off events or free childcare. You (or another designated adult you trust) should be present and supervising your kids during activities, especially those with inherent risks (swimming, climbing, etc.). If you were not present when an incident involving your child occurred, understand that resolving it later becomes much harder – so staying aware is key. Ultimately, your child’s safety, well-being, and behavior are your responsibility at all hub gatherings.:
  • Engage and Contribute: We welcome members to organize or host activities (e.g. a group hike, a science workshop, a teens’ meetup at a café) on a voluntary basis. If you create an event on our calendar or WhatsApp, be prepared to attend and facilitate it alongside others. Collaboration is the spirit – families often co-create the fun. Even if you’re not hosting, participating with enthusiasm (bringing snacks to a picnic, helping clean up, watching over kids playing tag, etc.) makes the experience better for everyone.:
  • Respect Community Guidelines with Children: Make sure your children understand, at a level appropriate to their age, the basics of our community rules – kindness, sharing, no bullying, etc. Encourage older children to take responsibility for their own behavior too. If every family enforces the same standards (no hitting, no cursing, respect others’ property, etc.), we create a consistent environment for all kids.:
  • Be Mindful of Others: Enjoy yourselves, but also be considerate. For example, if your toddler is having a meltdown, it might be best to step away from the group briefly to calm them, so the activity can continue smoothly. If you or your child borrowed something (toys, sports equipment) from another family, treat it carefully and return it promptly. Small courtesies like these go a long way in maintaining goodwill.:
  • Know the Limits: Because this is a community of families, you may encounter different parenting styles. Unless someone’s approach is directly harming a child, try not to judge or criticize. (If you see something trulyconcerning, handle it via Conflict Resolution or reporting as appropriate.) Similarly, be aware of your own limits and those of your kids – if an activity is too advanced or dangerous for your child’s age, it’s okay to opt out or suggest a safer alternative. Participation is voluntary, and saying “no” when needed is respected.:

By following these participation guidelines, you help ensure that each event is rewarding and enjoyable for all. The community runs on mutual trust and cooperation: keep communication open, be reliable (e.g., RSVP and show up on time), and look out for one another. Remember that our worldschooling hubs are self-governed – they only work if every family pitches in and exercises both freedom and responsibility.

5. WhatsApp Community Guidelines (Online Conduct)

Our WhatsApp groups (and other online channels like our Facebook group or forum) are vital for keeping the community connected. These platforms are where meetups are announced, plans are made, and support/advice is exchanged among members. To maintain a healthy online community, we ask that you follow these guidelines when posting or chatting:

  • Stay Respectful and Courteous: Just as in person, treat others online with kindness. Tone can easily be misinterpreted in text, so assume good intentions and phrase things politely. No public shaming or name-callingin group chats. If you have a complaint or conflict with someone, address it privately (ideally face-to-face or via direct message) rather than in the public group. Publicly blasting someone is against our rules and can lead to message deletion or further action.:
  • No Gossip or Drama: Refrain from gossiping about others’ personal matters or conflicts in the groups. It’s natural to seek support if you had a negative interaction, but do so in a private manner among close friends or admins – not in the main community chat. Spreading stories or taking sides on disputes in the public forum only inflames situations. Instead, see our Conflict Resolution section for proper steps. In short, don’t fan the flames – use the group for constructive communication, not rumor mills.:
  • Relevant Content Only: Keep discussions on-topic to worldschooling, travel, parenting, and relevant community matters. Our groups are not the place for unrelated advertising, spam, or political/religious debates unrelated to our community activities. We do not allow promotion of businesses or services unless specifically approved by admins for being directly useful to members (e.g., a local tutor’s info after a group member asks). Unsolicited ads or repetitive off-topic posts will be removed.:
  • Be Mindful of Language and Media: Do not post any content that is unlawful, pornographic, extremely graphic, or otherwise inappropriate for a family-friendly community. This includes images, videos, or forwards that could be offensive or not suitable for children. Remember, many members read messages with kids nearby. If it’s not something you’d openly share in a room full of families, don’t post it on WhatsApp. Also, never share personal data of others (like someone’s home address or phone number) in the group without consent, to protect everyone’s privacy.:
  • Admin Moderation: Our WhatsApp group admins (Bliss Investor facilitators) have the ability to delete messages or warn users if content violates these guidelines. We do not enjoy policing conversations, but we will step in to maintain a positive space. For example, if an argument is spiraling or a message comes across as hostile or shaming, an admin may remove it and ask the parties involved to talk privately. Understand that text messages lack tone – if an admin contacts you about a message, be open to the feedback that it may have been received poorly. In extreme cases or repeated issues, posting privileges might be limited or you could be removed from the chat groups.:
  • Legal and Platform Compliance: Please also follow WhatsApp’s own terms of service and community standards. As a UK platform provider, Bliss Investor must comply with the Online Safety Act 2023, which imposes a duty of care on online services to remove illegal content and protect users (especially children) from harmful content . Therefore, any content that is illegal (e.g. incitement of violence, hate speech, child exploitation material) or content that is legal but clearly harmful to children will be swiftly removed. We may also report serious illegal content to the authorities. By keeping our chats positive and lawful, you help us comply with these requirements and keep the community safe.:

In summary, think of our online groups as an extension of our real-life community: an inclusive, supportive space. Before you hit send, consider if your message contributes to that positive environment. Healthy discussions, questions, and even constructive debates are welcome – personal attacks, drama, or offensive material are not. We want our digital communications to foster friendship and learning, not conflict. If you ever feel someone’s message is out of line, you can discreetly alert an admin for help.

6. Reasons for Removal from the Community

Maintaining the well-being of the community sometimes means we must part ways with members who cannot abide by the agreed guidelines. Members (and their families) may be removed from our platform, including WhatsApp/Facebook groups and the Bliss Investor hub network, for serious or repeated violations of these guidelines or other terms of membership. Removal is not a decision we take lightly – it will typically occur only after warnings or failed attempts at resolution – but the safety and harmony of the group come first. Below are reasons that could lead to removal:

  • Repeated Unacceptable Behavior: If a member (or their child, under the member’s responsibility) repeatedly engages in unacceptable behaviors outlined in Section 3 – for example, continual bullying, aggressive incidents, or blatant disregard for the Code of Conduct – and does not improve after feedback, they can be asked to leave. We understand children can make mistakes; the key is that parents address issues and change course. If problematic behavior continues despite interventions, the community may collectively decide that the family in question should exit for the greater good.:
  • Serious One-Time Offense: Certain actions may be so egregious that they warrant immediate removal on a first offense. For instance, if an adult member is caught endangering a child, committing a crime at an event, or severely harassing another member, we will not tolerate that person’s continued participation. Likewise, any incident that indicates someone is a threat to others (for example, violent conduct or predatory behavior) is grounds for immediate expulsion.:
  • Inability to Resolve Conflicts: If a member consistently generates conflict, refuses to cooperate with conflict resolution efforts, or creates an atmosphere of drama and division, it may become necessary to remove that person. We value those who can self-reflect and work things out civilly. Conversely, someone who always blames others, ignites public arguments, or undermines group cohesion may be asked to depart if it’s harming the community experience.:
  • Violation of Membership Terms or Laws: Any violation of our platform’s Terms of Service, if applicable, can lead to suspension or termination of membership. For example, misuse of the online platform, sharing login access beyond the family, or misusing other members’ personal data could trigger removal. Similarly, if we discover activity that breaks the law (such as fraud or abuse facilitated through our platform), we will act swiftly to remove the parties involved.:

Process: In most cases, the process for removal will involve warnings and discussions. We will communicate the issue to the member and give an opportunity to respond or correct the behavior, except in the most severe circumstances where immediate action is warranted. If a decision is made to remove someone, Bliss Investor facilitators (and, where appropriate, core community members) will inform the person privately. The person will be removed from the WhatsApp and online groups and lose access to member services. (In a paid membership context, this effectively terminates their membership access; see our Terms of Service for details on any financial implications.) Removal decisions are made with a heavy heart, and always with the safety and well-being of the community as the paramount concern.

Finally, please note that because our community meetups occur in public or member-arranged venues, Bliss Investor cannot physically prevent a removed person from showing up to a public meetup if they learn of it. We have no legal authority to, for example, ban someone from a public park. What we can do is remove them from our communication channels (so they won’t get event info from us) and inform the group of the situation. In an open, self-regulated community, this is the extent of our power. We rely on social agreement and communication to enforce such decisions. Fortunately, these cases are rare. Our goal is always to help members resolve issues without reaching this point. Removal is a last resort when all other efforts fail and the community’s collective trust or safety is at risk.

7. Safety and Supervision Guidelines

Nothing is more important than the safety of our children. While our worldschooling meetups are meant to be fun and free-flowing for kids to explore and play, it is crucial that basic safety and supervision measures are in place. Bliss Investor is not an event organizer or childcare provider – we do not supervise children on-site, and our facilitators (if present) are there only as fellow parents/participants. Thus, each parent or guardian is 100% responsible for the safety and supervision of their own children at all times. Here are some key safety guidelines:

  • Continuous Supervision: Know where your kids are and who they are with during meetups. If you need to step away (even briefly), explicitly hand off supervision to another willing parent and make sure your child knows who is watching them. Young children should not wander off unaccompanied. For older kids or teens who have more independence at events, ensure they check in regularly and have a way to contact you.:
  • Venue Awareness: Familiarize yourself with the meetup location and identify any hazards. For example, if you’re at a beach, note the water depth and if lifeguards are present; at a park, note if there are roads or parking lots nearby that a child could run into; at a rented hall, locate exits and any potential dangers (kitchens, equipment, etc.). Taking a few minutes to assess risks and how to mitigate them is wise. The UK Government’s guidance for volunteer event organizers suggests thinking through what could go wrong and how to prevent harm in a proportionate way . We’re not running formal risk assessments, but a bit of common-sense precaution (like moving sharp objects out of reach, or ensuring an adult accompanies a group of kids to a restroom) goes a long way.:
  • Health and Safety Basics: Bring along any personal items your child might need (inhalers, EpiPens, sunscreen, etc.) and be prepared to take care of their basic needs (water, snacks, rest). It’s helpful if at least one person at a meetup has a basic first aid kit and knowledge of first aid. While not required, it’s part of being a supportive community. In case of any injury or emergency, parents should cooperate to help – but remember, each parent is ultimately responsible for the medical decisions and care of their own child. If a serious incident occurs, do not hesitate to call emergency services.:
  • No Unattended Drop-Offs: As mentioned, our hubs are not formal childcare. Do not drop off your children at an event expecting others to watch them for you. This isn’t fair to the group and could put your child at risk. If you as a parent cannot attend an event, you may send your child with another trusted adult (e.g., a relative or friend who is also a community member) – but make sure the group knows who is responsible for the child. Children under 18 should not attend meetups without a designated responsible adult present.:
  • Mutual Support, Not Obligation: We encourage a culture of looking out for each other – for instance, parents taking turns to keep an eye on a group of kids playing football, or holding a toddler’s hand if they see them wandering toward a hazard until the parent comes. That said, no member is legally or morally obligated to supervise someone else’s child. It’s a courtesy and kindness, not a duty. So, while you may find others readily help watch out for your kids (and you should do the same in return), do not assume that someone else is watching your child. Always double-check. Ultimately, each family must ensure their own children’s safety.:
  • Personal Accountability: By attending any meetup, you acknowledge that you are participating at your own risk. These gatherings are informal and not managed by a professional entity. Each parent should use their best judgment regarding safety. If you feel an activity is unsafe, you have the right to speak up or to remove your child from that activity. Communicate with hosts or other parents if you have concerns – for example, if an older kid is doing something rough that could hurt a younger kid, say something or intervene calmly. Safety is a shared value, and open communication helps maintain it.:

In sum, we want our worldschooling adventures to be filled with joyful and enriching experiences for our kids. Following these safety guidelines ensures that remains the case. Be vigilant, use common sense, and don’t hesitate to voice safety concerns. Bliss Investor as a company assumes no responsibility for on-site supervision or incidents – that responsibility is collectively in the hands of the participating families. (See Section 12 on Liability for more details.) By adhering to these precautions, we can all relax and enjoy the journey, knowing we’ve minimized risks.

8. Communication Channels and Reporting

Bliss Investor provides several communication channels for our members: WhatsApp groups, Facebook groups, our online platform’s forum/comments, email newsletters, and so on. These channels are meant for constructive communication, coordination, and support. Here’s how to appropriately use our communication channels and how to report concerns:

  • Contacting Bliss Investor: If you need to report a serious issue, have questions about these guidelines, or require assistance from the platform administrators, you are welcome to contact us privately. The primary way to reach us is via email at admin@blissinvestor.com. For urgent matters, you can also direct message a Bliss Investor facilitator in the WhatsApp or Facebook group (admins are usually labeled as such). We aim to respond and help as promptly as possible.:
  • Private Conflict Resolution: As emphasized earlier, conflicts or complaints about individuals should be handled privately, not in public channels. If you feel uncomfortable approaching someone directly, you can use a private message or seek advice from a facilitator. We will help you establish communication with the other party in a discreet manner. Our communication tools (like direct messaging on the platform) can be used for these private conversations.:
  • No Public Shaming or Complaints: Our WhatsApp and Facebook groups are not outlets for naming and shaming someone or rallying others in a dispute. Posts that are essentially public complaints about a member (even if not named explicitly) will likely be removed. This is to protect the dignity of individuals and to keep group discussions productive. If you see a problematic message in a group (for example, someone venting in a way that violates the WhatsApp guidelines), you can flag it to an admin rather than responding publicly. Let the admins handle it from there.:
  • Confidentiality: When someone reports a concern or conflict, we handle it as discreetly as possible. We ask that members also respect confidentiality. For instance, if a family leaves the community after an issue, there’s no need to broadcast details; gossip helps no one. In the same vein, if you provide feedback or suggestions to Bliss Investor, we may share aggregated lessons with the community (“Many of you requested a quieter meet-up spot, so we found a new park…”) but we won’t single anyone out without permission.:
  • Local Authorities and Emergencies: While we provide channels for communication, certain situations transcend community management. If you believe a child is in immediate danger or witness a crime (abuse, assault, etc.), contact the local authorities right away. Do not wait to report through Bliss Investor – we are not an emergency service. After ensuring authorities are involved, you can inform us of the situation so we are aware, but safety comes first. For general safeguarding concerns (like suspecting neglect or abuse in a family), in the UK you can also reach out to services like the NSPCC or local child protective services for advice . We hope such situations never arise in our community, but we want you to know the proper channels if they do.:

To keep our communications effective, please also adhere to any specific rules each channel might have (for example, our Facebook group might have a pinned post with additional guidelines like not allowing certain topics). By using the right channels for the right purposes and respecting privacy, we ensure that information flows smoothly and issues are handled appropriately.

9. Feedback and Continuous Improvement

We are committed to continuously improving our community experience – both online and at the hubs. Your feedback is invaluable in identifying what works well and what could be better. We encourage an open dialogue and proactive suggestions:

  • Share Your Ideas: If you have ideas for new activities, improvements to the platform, or adjustments to these guidelines, please let us know. You can email admin@blissinvestor.com or use any feedback feature on our platform. Perhaps you’ve noticed a need for a teen-specific meetup, or you have a suggestion for a clearer rule in this document – we’re listening. Many of our best practices have come from member input.:
  • Community Meetings: Occasionally, if there is interest, we can hold a casual community meeting (virtually or in-person at a hub) to discuss how things are going. These are great opportunities to voice opinions and for us to collaboratively problem-solve any concerns. We may also use online polls or surveys to gather member opinions on certain decisions.:
  • Transparency: We will do our best to be transparent about any changes to guidelines or policies. If we update this document or any procedures (for example, introducing a new tool for RSVPing or a new code of conduct item), we will announce it to all members through our official channels. This way, everyone stays informed.:
  • Learning from Incidents: When issues do occur, we treat them as learning opportunities. If a conflict was resolved, we might extract a general lesson (anonymously) to share so others can avoid similar problems. If someone was removed for a certain behavior, we might clarify that behavior in the guidelines to leave no ambiguity. We appreciate when members also reflect and share lessons. The goal is not to dwell on the negative, but to grow from it.:
  • Compliments and Success Stories: Feedback isn’t just about problems – it’s also helpful to know what’s working great. If a particular event was fantastic, or a new member did an awesome job integrating, or an initiative on the platform really helped you, please share that too! Positive feedback helps us reinforce what we’re doing right and gives everyone encouragement. We may highlight success stories (with permission) as inspiration for the community.:

Together, we can build a worldschooling community that is ever more welcoming, generous, supportive, and respectful. These values are at our core. Thank you for helping uphold them and for contributing your voice to make this community the best it can be.

10. Role of Facilitators (Bliss Investor’s Role)

Who are the facilitators? Facilitators are Bliss Investor staff or designated community volunteers who help manage our online platforms (WhatsApp groups, Facebook group, the website) and assist in coordinating the flow of information about meetups. It’s important to clarify what the facilitators do and do not do, to manage expectations and legal responsibilities:

  • Community Moderation and Support: Facilitators act as administrators in the chat groups – adding or removing members, guiding discussions back on track if needed, and enforcing the online conduct rules. They may also help maintain the event calendar, answer questions about using the platform, and generally be a point of contact for members needing assistance. Their role is one of coordination and communication. We often say they “grease the wheels” of the community so that things run smoothly.:
  • Goodwill, Not Authority: Facilitators do not serve as bosses or police of the community. They don’t unilaterally dictate who can join a meetup or how people should parent their kids. Think of them as friendly organizers who have volunteered (or been appointed by Bliss Investor) to help out. They will use their discretion to intervene online for guideline violations (as described earlier), but they are not there to micromanage everyone’s behavior. In line with this, facilitators and Bliss Investor staff have no special legal powers or responsibilities over other members. They are fellow community members with an extra administrative role, acting in goodwill to keep the vibe positive.:
  • Not Event Hosts or Childminders: A facilitator might attend a hub gathering (for instance, if a Bliss Investor staff member happens to be in the same location as a meetup), but that does not make the event an officially hosted or supervised event. They are attending as just another parent/participant. Bliss Investor is not the host of these events – the attendees collectively “self-host.” We want to be very clear on this: Bliss Investor assumes no legal responsibility for the actions of participants or the outcome of events. Success of an event (how fun or educational it is) and safety at the event depend on those who attend and plan it, not on the company. Facilitators do not check venues for safety, do not provide child supervision, and do not have contingency plans – those are up to the group in real time. Essentially, once we’ve connected you through the platform, it’s in your hands as a community.:
  • No Formal Authority Over Community Membership: While facilitators/admins can remove someone from the WhatsApp or platform for guideline breaches (as described in Section 6), they are not community “leaders” in the sense of controlling who talks to whom or who attends public meetups. Our philosophy is that everyone in the group is a co-creator of the experience, with mutual responsibility. Facilitators are there to serve the community, not to exert power. In practical terms, if someone is removed from our platform, it means they won’t be in the official groups or on the member site – it doesn’t physically bar them from being in the same town or public space. We rely on the community’s consensus and social contract for that. Facilitators won’t, for example, send guards to kick someone out of a playground. This underscores again that our role is limited to the scope of our platform services.:
  • No Business Operations Abroad: Bliss Investor is a UK-based online business. We do not operate local offices or for-profit enterprises in the countries where members might meet. Thus, our facilitators are not “running events” in foreign locales in any official capacity. In fact, when facilitators are present at hubs internationally, they participate as private individuals (on a tourist visa, if applicable) just like any other family. We hold no special permits to organize events in those countries, because what’s happening is essentially a free reunion of members. This distinction is important legally – it keeps our gatherings in the category of private meetups rather than commercial events. By keeping things organic and member-led, we avoid the need for event licenses or work permits in various jurisdictions. The on-the-ground hubs are your meetups; our platform simply helped you all find each other.:

In summary, Bliss Investor (through its facilitators) is a connector and communicator. We love seeing families come together to worldschool, and we do our best to nurture a thriving network by managing the online aspects. However, we deliberately keep a light touch when it comes to the in-person aspect. We do not assume liability for what happens at meetups, nor can we guarantee any particular outcome. We’re here to encourage and help organize, but not to lead or supervise. By understanding this role, members know what to expect from us and where our responsibility ends. We believe this empowers the community to self-govern, which has always been a core principle of worldschooling hubs.

11. Data Protection and Privacy

Protecting our members’ personal data and privacy is a priority for Bliss Investor. As a UK business, we comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, which set out strict rules for how we collect, use, and store personal information . We also want members to have control over their own data. Below are key points about our data practices and your privacy:

  • Consent and Control: We only collect personal data from you that is necessary for providing our services (for example, names and contact details to manage your membership and send meetup notifications, or information about your children’s ages if you choose to share it for planning age-appropriate events). This data is collected with your consent and full knowledge of its purpose. When you sign up and at various points in using our platform, you will be asked to opt-in to any data uses beyond the obvious (such as opting into a newsletter, or agreeing to share your email with other group members for coordination). You are never automatically enrolledinto these uses – you must actively consent, e.g. by ticking a box for a newsletter . You can also withdraw your consent at any time. Every group email we send, for instance, includes an “unsubscribe” option, and you can adjust data-sharing settings on our platform or by contacting us. We strive to give you full control over how your information is used.:
  • Types of Data and Purpose: The personal data we handle typically includes your name, email address, WhatsApp number, and possibly your general location (to help find nearby hubs). If you fill out a family profile, it might include names/ages of children, interests, etc. We use this data only for community-related purposes: enabling communication between members, organizing meetups, and providing you with relevant resources. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties. We do not use your data for any purpose outside of what you agreed to. For example, if you give us your email to register, we’ll use it for login and important announcements; we won’t start sending you marketing for unrelated products unless you explicitly opt in to something like that. We follow the principle of data minimisation – only asking for what we truly need – and purpose limitation, meaning we won’t repurpose your data in sneaky ways .:
  • Data of Children: We understand that by the nature of this community, some personal data may relate to children (like a child’s first name and age in a profile, or photos from events). Children’s data is treated with particular care. In line with UK data protection rules, any processing of data for a child under 13 requires parental consent , which in our case is built-in since only parents are account holders. If you, as a parent, share information or photos of your child on our platform, that is considered consent for those specific purposes (e.g., sharing a photo in the WhatsApp group means you consent to other members seeing it). However, no one may take or reuse images of someone else’s child without permission. In fact, photographs or videos in which people (especially kids) are identifiable are considered personal data under the law . So, if you snap pictures at meetups, be mindful of privacy: it’s fine to share them within the group if everyone is comfortable, but do not post other people’s children on social media or elsewhere publicly without the parents’ consent. As a community courtesy, ask before you take close-up photos of kids that aren’t yours. We also encourage using group photos (where no single child is the focus) or anonymizing (blurring faces) if you want to publish something about the meetup externally.:
  • Member Directory and Privacy Settings: Within our membership platform, you may have the option to share certain info on your profile (like your homeschooling blog or an introduction). This is voluntary. We provide privacy settings so you can control what fellow members see. For example, you might choose to display your first name and your kids’ ages, but keep your last name and precise location private. We advise you to never post sensitive personal details (home addresses, financial info, etc.) on public-facing parts of your profile. If another member asks you for personal information you’re not comfortable sharing, you have every right to decline. Also, per our guidelines, members must not misuse personal data of others: just because you have access to someone’s contact info through our platform doesn’t mean you can use it for unrelated purposes. In fact, UK data protection principles say that if you only know someone through a group, data about them is for group use and you shouldn’t repurpose it personally without consent . For instance, do not harvest emails from our member list to add to your business mailing list – that would be a violation of trust and law.:
  • Data Security: We take appropriate measures to secure the data you provide to us. Our website and databases are protected by encryption and industry-standard security practices. We also limit access: only authorized Bliss Investor staff (and necessary service providers under strict agreements) can access member data, and even then, only what they need to perform their duties. We have policies in place for data retention – we won’t keep your personal data longer than needed. For example, if you cancel membership, after a certain period we will delete or anonymize your info, except any we’re required to keep for legal or financial record-keeping. If you want to know more, our Privacy Policy document goes into detail on these practices (you can request or view it on our website).:
  • Your Rights: As a data subject under UK law, you have rights such as: the right to request a copy of the data we hold on you; the right to correct it if it’s wrong; the right to deletion (to be forgotten) in many cases; and the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We are fully committed to honoring these rights. If you have any privacy-related requests or concerns – for instance, you want us to delete a photo you previously uploaded, or you don’t want to appear in the member directory – simply contact us at admin@blissinvestor.com and we will assist you. Members are in control of their personal information. Our aim is to foster community connections while respecting individual privacy and autonomy.:

In summary, Bliss Investor will handle your personal data ethically, lawfully, and transparently . We ask that you, as community members, also respect each other’s privacy (both online and during meetups). By doing so, we build trust – a cornerstone of any community. If you ever have questions about how we protect data or need help adjusting your privacy preferences, please reach out. We want you to feel safe not just physically at meetups, but also in how your personal information is managed on our platform.

12. Legal Compliance and Liability Disclaimer

As a UK-based online platform providing a service to members, Bliss Investor operates in compliance with the laws of England and Wales. It’s important for all members to understand the legal context of our community and the limits of our responsibility. This section outlines our legal compliance obligations and states our liability policy to protect our organization while being transparent with you.

  • Online Platform Compliance: We adhere to all relevant online safety and content laws. As mentioned earlier, the Online Safety Act 2023 imposes a duty of care on platforms like ours to tackle illegal and harmful content, especially content harmful to children . We take this seriously. That’s why our Community Guidelines (Section 5) strictly forbid posting illegal material or hate speech, and why we have moderation practices in place. We also comply with intellectual property laws – please only share content (text, images, etc.) that you have the right to share. If you post something, you are asserting that it doesn’t infringe someone else’s copyright or other rights. Any content that violates the law or someone’s rights will be removed once we’re aware. Bliss Investor, as the platform provider, reserves the right to remove or block any content or user that poses legal risks or violates our terms. We also cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required (for example, responding to a lawful request for information in an investigation). By using our platform, you agree to abide by all applicable laws – this includes not only UK laws (like Data Protection, Equality, Hate Crime laws, etc.) but also any local laws in your country of residence, especially when organizing meetups there.:
  • No Warranty for Services: While we strive to provide the best service possible, our platform and community services are offered on an “as-is” basis without any explicit or implied warranties. We cannot guarantee that the website or app will be available 100% of the time, or that it will meet all your expectations (technology can glitch, and plans can change). We also do not guarantee any specific outcomes from joining the community – for example, we can’t promise that you will find a suitable meetup in every location or that every event will be a perfect fit for your family. We will do our best, but there are many factors outside our control (such as individual member behavior, weather affecting events, etc.). Any reliance you place on information obtained through our platform is at your own risk . For instance, if a member shares homeschooling advice or a travel tip, that’s peer-to-peer information – Bliss Investor isn’t certifying it as professional advice. Always use your own judgment and, if needed, consult professionals for important decisions (educational, medical, legal, etc.).:
  • Liability for In-Person Events: Given that Bliss Investor is not the host or organizer of the in-person meetups, we do not assume liability for what happens during those gatherings. By participating in a hub event, you acknowledge that you are joining a private, self-organized gathering of individuals. Bliss Investor has no responsibility for any liability which may arise from these events . This means that if any injury, loss, damage, or dispute occurs during an in-person meetup, the company (Bliss Investor) cannot be held legally accountable for it. Each family attends by their own choice and at their own risk. We highly encourage everyone to take reasonable precautions (as detailed in the Safety section) to prevent accidents or issues. However, in the unfortunate event something does occur, any claims or resolutions would be a matter between the individuals involved (or their insurance), not involving Bliss Investor as a liable party. For example, if a child breaks an arm climbing a tree at a meetup, that is ultimately the responsibility of the parent and perhaps the venue; Bliss Investor, which neither organized the tree-climbing nor supervised it, has no liability. Participating families might consider personal liability insurance if they want extra protection, but that is a personal decision. (Nothing in these guidelines is intended to limit liability for death or personal injury resulting from Bliss Investor’s negligence, or other liabilities which cannot be limited or excluded under law. However, since we do not have an active role in physical events, such scenarios are highly unlikely.):
  • Liability for Online Interactions: Similarly, Bliss Investor is not liable for the content of communications posted by members in our community forums, WhatsApp, etc. We serve as an intermediary – like a bulletin board provider – and while we will moderate when necessary, the primary responsibility for what each user posts lies with the user. UK Defamation law (Defamation Act 2013) provides certain protections to online platforms for user-generated content, especially if we respond to takedown requests appropriately . If you post something defamatory or illegal and someone takes action, that’s on you as the author of the content. We expressly exclude liability for any loss or damage you might suffer due to content posted by others on the platform . For instance, if another member gives advice in a chat and you act on it and it turns out poorly, you cannot hold Bliss Investor responsible for that advice. We urge members to exercise critical thinking and caution in acting on information gained from peers online.:
  • Indemnification: By participating in our community and using our platform, you agree that if your own actions result in a legal claim against Bliss Investor (for example, you post something that causes us to be sued or investigated), you will indemnify (reimburse) us for any costs or damages that result. This sounds heavy, but it’s a standard clause to protect the platform from the consequences of user behavior. Essentially, don’t do anything that could drag us into court – and if you do, be prepared to take responsibility for it. We also expect members to truthfully represent themselves and not engage in fraud or misrepresentation. Should any member engage in unlawful conduct, we will remove them and cooperate with authorities as needed.:
  • Governing Law: Our community guidelines and any related disputes or claims are governed by the laws of England and Wales. By joining as a member, you acknowledge this jurisdiction. In the unlikely event of a dispute between a member and Bliss Investor that can’t be resolved amicably, it would generally be handled in UK courts (or via UK-based arbitration/mediation if agreed). We of course hope nothing of that sort ever happens!:
  • No Business in Other Countries: As noted, Bliss Investor does not conduct commercial operations in the countries where meetups occur; we do not charge for meetups, do not have employees running events abroad, and do not derive profit from the act of gathering (your membership fee strictly covers the online platform services). This means we are not subject to local event regulations or employment laws in those meetup locations, since we aren’t “doing business” or employing staff there. We mention this to clarify that our status is that of an online service provider, not an international event company. If anyone (e.g., a venue owner or local official) has questions about a particular gathering, it should be made clear that it is a private meet-up of families and not a Bliss Investor corporate event. This distinction protects both us and members, keeping things in the personal realm. However, members must still ensure they follow any local laws when they gather (for example, if a permit is needed for a huge gathering in a park or if there are local COVID-19 regulations, the families organizing should adhere to those). Bliss Investor cannot supervise this, but we urge compliance with all local legal requirements.:

In plain language: We are a platform that connects people and provides information, but we don’t insure or guarantee the outcomes of your interactions. We want you to have amazing experiences, and we work hard to set the stage for that (through guidelines, vetted membership, etc.), yet ultimately each individual must assume responsibility for their own actions and their family’s safety. Bliss Investor’s liability to any member is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law. In fact, since our service is mainly to provide online access and community networking, any claim would likely be limited to at most the value of your membership fee or proven direct loss, but not indirect or consequential losses. We believe being upfront about this helps everyone understand the true nature of our community: it is member-driven. This legal clarification isn’t to scare anyone, but rather to underscore that our community thrives on trust and personal responsibility, not on transferring risk to an organization.

By continuing as a member of Bliss Investor’s worldschooling community, you indicate your understanding and acceptance of these guidelines, including the legal points above. If you ever have questions or concerns about liability, insurance, or any legal aspect, feel free to contact us for clarification. We want all members to feel informed and comfortable.

Contact Us: If you have any questions or concerns regarding these guidelines (or any other aspect of our platform and community), please do not hesitate to reach out.
